A New Set Of Projects – BST Arena Maps

Yesterday while slightly bored i decided to make an arena map for fun.  I originally created a single concept map, and called it BST Arena 1.  It has some issues with it and it isnt really playable so far.  After this and a round on fortaleza on BST TDM, i decided to revise the spec and make a small(ish) map based on the same arena from BST Arena 1, and i called it BST Arena 2.

It is a fun map with not many places to get fall damage, it has jump pads, a bit of lava, and is highly optimised for snipers, but should be fine for rushers as well.  So i released it as Beta1.  This map has taken me only maybe 2-4 hours of build time overall, so its pretty basic, and can be compared with some of Rud Crustage’s maps in terms of simplicity.

My own mapping has generally been in the jumping area, so ive decided to branch out a little.  I already tried a frag map some time back called bstcastle, which was a bit of a failure, but failures help add knowledge, and with this new knowledge i can adapt and make a better map next time.  This is my second try at a frag map and hopefully better.

Things i dislike and need to fix on this map.  Well the skybox is crap for one, ive never really mastered skyboxes, so thats one area i need to concentrate on.  The other is the texturing maybe.  For what it is at present it works pretty well, but it still has an ugly look to it. ;)
