As i wrote a time ago, Frozen Sand (or delegates) were invited to a hearing on 6th May 2010 Germany.
Urban Terror was about to get indexed in Germany.
The german UrT-Community iourbanterror.de got some news:
Urban Terror will not be indexed in Germany. The Reason? The motion was rejected and the proceedings are closed.

As many of you already noticed, there happened some changes to the BST-Server.

Server closed, server opened, closed again, and so on. We keep going forward, so changes happen and we want to have some good working, nice flowing and great vibe server for ourselves and of course ya´ll…

BST got 4 server for now (and hopefully) for a long, long time.

Yesterday while slightly bored i decided to make an arena map for fun.  I originally created a single concept map, and called it BST Arena 1.  It has some issues with it and it isnt really playable so far.  After this and a round on fortaleza on BST TDM, i decided to revise the spec and make a small(ish) map based on the same arena from BST Arena 1, and i called it BST Arena 2.

It is a fun map with not many places to get fall damage, it has jump pads, a bit of lava, and is highly optimised for snipers, but should be fine for rushers as well.  So i released it as Beta1.  This map has taken me only maybe 2-4 hours of build time overall, so its pretty basic, and can be compared with some of Rud Crustage’s maps in terms of simplicity.

My own mapping has generally been in the jumping area, so ive decided to branch out a little.  I already tried a frag map some time back called bstcastle, which was a bit of a failure, but failures help add knowledge, and with this new knowledge i can adapt and make a better map next time.  This is my second try at a frag map and hopefully better.

Things i dislike and need to fix on this map.  Well the skybox is crap for one, ive never really mastered skyboxes, so thats one area i need to concentrate on.  The other is the texturing maybe.  For what it is at present it works pretty well, but it still has an ugly look to it.

Urban Terror is on its way to get indexed in germany.

A german administrative authority called “Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien” (BPjM) requested to test if Urban Terror has to be added to the “Liste der jugendgefährdenden Medien” (“list of youth-endangering media”). This list is short called “Index” in Germany.

A board of 12 representatives consisting of 8 different social organizations (e.g. artistic and literary community, entertainment industry, youth welfare, teachers, religios groups), 3 representatives of the federal states as well as the chairwoman of the BPjM examines the respective object.

As you know UrT started a mod of Quake 3 Arena. What you probably not know is the fact that Q3A is already indexed for about 10 years in Germany.

What are the consequences if UrT will be added to the list of youth-endangering media?

For the simple reason that my english is too bad, i just copied the terms from wikipedia:

• It must not be sold, provided or otherwise made accessible to minors.
• It must not be displayed where it can be seen by minors. This would, for example, include playing an indexed game in the presence of minors.
• It must be sold only within a shop. Basically selling indexed titles per mail order is illegal, however it is permissible if the package may only be handed over to a specified adult person, who has to present ID.
• It must not be rented out, except in a shop inaccessible to minors. This is why most video rentals in Germany are not accessible for minors – otherwise they would not be allowed to rent out certain horror (and adult) films.
• It must not be imported by mail order. In this case even an adult buyer is subject to penalty.
• It must not be advertised or announced in a place where the announcement or advertisement could be seen by minors.
• If it is for one of the above six causes, production, acquiring, and holding in store are subject to penalty too.
